Lake Tenkiller Tour
Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma offers some of the clearest water in the region. With visibility often exceeding 20 feet, it's an outstanding destination for underwater exploration.
About This Tour
Lake Tenkiller, often called the "jewel of Oklahoma," sits in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains along the Illinois River. The lake is fed by clear, spring-fed tributaries that give it some of the best underwater visibility in the entire region, frequently reaching 20 feet or more.
Divers at Tenkiller can explore steep underwater cliffs that drop to depths exceeding 100 feet near the dam. Rocky ledges, submerged trees, and old road beds from before the reservoir was filled provide structure and habitat for a wide variety of aquatic life. Keep your eyes open for striped bass, catfish, perch, and large schools of shad moving through the water column.
Tenkiller is an excellent choice for divers looking to build experience in deeper water or for those who simply want to enjoy the best visibility the area has to offer. The drive from Fort Smith is scenic and well worth the trip.
